Identification and characterization of photosynthetic and translational modulators in-volved in chloroplast acclimation to low temperature

We previously identified several plastid-encoded non-essential genes as candidate modulators of cold acclima-tion. Now, we elucidate the regulation of these genes and their physiological role in cold acclimation of photosyn-thesis and translation. Furthermore, we will analyse the cold response of translation by whole-cell ribosome profil-ing to obtain a quantitative, codon-resolved picture of this process and to identify additional translationally regu-lated modulators and integrators of cold acclimation. Moreover, we will unravel the compositional dynamics of the plastid translation machinery during cold acclimation to reveal regulatory functions of ribosomal proteins and ribo-some-associated factors.
